As the heading says…
There are two types of people in this world…
One that relishes a challenge, takes it head on with commitment and purpose, and constantly strives for achievement.
And one that turns the other way, moves in the opposite direction to adversity and craves comfort and avoids confrontation.
I witnessed both of these types of people as a prison officer when a riot alarm was activated and there was a need for action…
Some officers ran to the incident, others froze or actually ran away!
It fascinated me then, and it still fascinates me now.
In that scenario, you cannot control your initial split-second response, it’s in-built (reaction) – but when the brain kicks in a few seconds later, you can control what you do next (action).
Starting your fat loss/fitness/health journey has similarities…
You may have a thought – “Sh*t, I’m a mess, this is wrong!” (Reaction)….
Which scares you…
Followed by “Ok, I need to do something about this!” – (Action)….
Which then goes on to decide your outcome.
The problem is, our world is becoming increasingly easier.
Drive thru’s, takeaways, home deliveries – all appear a much more ‘convenient’ answer in comparison to a supermarket shop followed by 30 mins prep in the kitchen.
An hour on the sofa watching Corrie, or scrolling other people’s lives on social media, appears a much ‘easier’ option to an hour in the gym lifting weights.
Therein lies the problem though…
For every ‘convenient’ or ‘easy’ option we make – we tip the scales in favour of inactivity and poor health.
Poor physical health manifests itself in many ways… frequent illness and deteriorating mental health to name but a few.
You can’t change your ‘reaction’
But you can change your ‘action!’ ????????????
